I am Cale Jones. My wife Angelique and I live in Chattanooga, TN. I am 36 years old,
with a degree in Graphic Design and Photography from Nashville Tech. Angelique and I
run our own business, called Atticdwellers (link), making jewelry and accessories out
of bottle caps and other recycled materials. We travel to many festivals and events
throughout the year in order to display and sell our work.
Art history and technique have been of great interest to me from an early age, but it was
not until high school that I first tried painting. I had some limited formal instruction early
on, but for several years I mainly just dabbled and was not very productive. It has only
been in the last seven years that I have found some consistency both in style and output.
Subject material for my paintings usually comes from imagination rather than
observation. Influences come mainly from the post-Impressionism period, and from
artists such as Vuillard, Bonnard, Redon, Puvis de Chavannes, and Gauguin. Since 2005
I have seen greater success in selling work due to increased public showing at festivals
around the Southeast. In the future, I plan to continue developing my style and to
participate more in the Chattanooga art scene. Further goals include seeking gallery
representation both locally and nationally while continuing to travel to festivals around
the country in order to broaden my exposure.
